IELTS LISTENING

What is the structure of the IELTS listening Test?

The IELTS listening test consists of four sections, each with a different type of listening task. The test takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, including the time to transfer answers from the question booklet to the answer sheet.

Here is an overview of the structure of the IELTS listening test:

Section 1

In this section, you will hear a conversation between two speakers in a social context. For example, the conversation may be about booking a hotel room, ordering food in a restaurant, or making travel arrangements. There will be 10 questions to answer, which will test your ability to understand specific details and main ideas.

Section 2

In this section, you will hear a monologue (one speaker) in a non-academic context. For example, the monologue may be a tour guide giving information about a historical site, or an announcement at a train station. There will be 10 questions to answer, which will test your ability to understand specific details, main ideas, and the speaker's attitude or purpose.

Section 3

In this section, you will hear a conversation between up to four speakers in an academic context. For example, the conversation may be a discussion between students about an assignment, or a conversation between a student and a professor. There will be 10 questions to answer, which will test your ability to understand specific details, main ideas, and the speakers' attitudes or opinions.

Section 4

In this section, you will hear a monologue (one speaker) in an academic context. For example, the monologue may be a lecture or talk on a scientific or academic topic. There will be 10 questions to answer, which will test your ability to understand specific details, main ideas, and the speaker's attitude or purpose.

Overall, the listening test is designed to assess your ability to understand spoken English in a variety of contexts and accents, and to identify specific information, main ideas, and the speaker's attitude or purpose.
